Hello, my Name is Friederieke or shorter „Fido“. I live in Hamburg now, but I grew up in the quietly romantic town of Wedel, where forests, moors, and the sea were never far away. Those landscapes shaped me – their stillness, their mystery, the way they change with the light. That quiet magic still lives in many of my paintings today
Â
Mondlichtblume (german, means Flower of Moonlight) is the name of my collection of paintings and drawings that have grown over the years, each one like a little time capsule from different chapters of my life. This collection includes works I created before and during my studies in communication design, as well as during my time working as a graphic designer. After six years in that world, I decided it was time for a new path. Today, I work as an educator with a focus on inclusion – and I feel right at home.
Â
Over the years, my painting tools have changed, too. from watercolor to acrylics, and finally to oil paints. Even back in school, people often said my paintings reminded them of something much older – almost from another time. Well, in 2020, I finally embraced oil paints. 2020 marked the beginning of a very special collaboration as well: I began creating cover art for the wonderful dark metal band Autumnblaze.
Â
Autumnblaze have been a powerful emotional constant in my life since the year 2001. Their music carried me through many phases, and now, to be able to contribute to their visual world feels like closing a very personal circle. Designing their covers is more than just illustration – it’s a collaboration rooted in deep admiration, shared moods, and many years of connection. Each artwork is a tribute to the atmosphere their music creates – dark, poetic, and full of soul.
Â
These days, painting is my happy hobby. Stepping away from the design industry rekindled my joy for art – now my creativity feels freer, lighter, and more honest. Working on commission had slowly drained the soul from my pictures. My journey through social education (and its heartful mindset) helped unlock something new – or maybe just helped me let go.
Â
So here it is – Mondlichblume – a collection of quiet moments, painted stories, and little windows into my world.
